We don't know quite how many hotels there are in Paris. We know the number is four figures — but is it 1,500? 2,000? 3,000? That breadth of choice can make it challenging to pick the perfect hotel when planning your visit to the City of Hotels! If you're like us, you want to get it just right.
Here at Paris Insiders Guide we review hundreds of hotels. We've grouped the best of them in categories like Left Bank hotels, the top hotels in the Latin Quarter, 4-star hotels, and hotels that are downright charming. In addition, each year we like to look at the hotels our readers have actually booked when they visited Paris. Here, then, are the top hotels, as chosen by our readers who travelled to Paris during the most recent full year of travel, 2019.
You won't go wrong with this classic Latin Quarter hotel. First of all, the location is fantastic — right in front of the Pantheon on the place. In fact, the hotel is named after the famous French men (and two women) who are buried in this landmark building. Travelers can't seem to get enough of this winning Paris hotel, and for good reason.
It's close to so many must-visit places — Jardin du Luxembourg is just down the hill, Rue Mouffetard (the market street) is just around the corner, and the famous English-language bookstore, Shakespeare and Company, is only nine minutes away on foot.

You'll know by now that Hotel Monge is our personal favorite and appears on all of Paris Insiders Guide's top hotels lists. Perfectly located in a vibrant neighborhood, the Monge is also convenient to the things you want to see in Paris, like the Pantheon and Notre Dame. There are also two nearby Metro lines to choose from (7 and 10) that get you to the rest of the city quickly.
Everything about the Hotel Monge is excellent — the best hotel beds and pillows ever, fantastic lighting design, great staff and service. Since we started singing its charms, Hotel Monge has become incredibly busy, so be sure to book early.

This new hotel makes its first appearance on our annual list. Modern, designer inspired, and oh-so fashionable, this new addition to the Paris hotel scene is located on Place de la Madeleine, kitty-corner across the place from the gourmet luxury food shop, Fauchon, who created the hotel and its Grande Café. At Fauchon L'Hôtel you're not only in the middle of Paris, you're in the middle of all things luxury!

Also making its first appearance on our annual list (thanks to the readers who stayed here) is the Palace-designated Four Seasons Hotel George V in the 8th Arrondissement. Distinction Palace is a French government rating for hotels that go beyond the already high 5-star standard. Fewer than a dozen hotels in Paris have achieved this distinction.
The George V is classic elegance — it's hard not to be awed by the overall opulence. The wow factor begins in the lobby with 18th-century tapestries, spectacular flower arrangements, fine art, and marble-and-gold finishes. The hotel restaurant, Le Cinq, has two Michelin stars. And, if you're in the mood for pampering, the spa is legendary. As a guest, even the standard rooms (as in the photo above) will leave you speechless. Book a room with a balcony and you'll be rewarded with a private view that overlooks the grands boulevards and the Eiffel Tower.

This lovely boutique hotel, with only ten rooms, is done in warm tones and Empire-style furniture. The location is hard to beat — on a quiet street between Boulevard St-Germain and the Seine, Villa d'Estrées is in the hub of the 6th Arrondissement, close to the Metro, surrounded by bistros, Notre Dame (just across the river), and the pedestrian street Saint Andre des Art.

This romantic 4-star hotel is built around a courtyard garden. The best of the hotel's room open onto the courtyard, while several of the larger rooms and suites enjoy their own private terraces. Rooms are decorated with rich fabrics, antique writing desks, paisley wall coverings, velvet armchairs & chandeliers. It's not surprising to learn that the original owners were antique dealers.
The downstairs cellar bar has quiet corners and velvet love seats to cozy up in. All in all, the 18th-century townhouse is a peaceful haven on a quiet street in the Saint-Germain-de-Prés neighborhood.

Solidly in the top half of the 2019 list is another charming hotel in a desirable part of the Latin Quarter. The Hotel Les Dames du Pantheon, named in honor of the two women who are laid to rest in the Pantheon, is set in a 17th-century building just across from the Pantheon itself. Jardin de Luxembourg is just a five minute walk down Rue Soufflot .
Travelers have loved the mix of antique furniture, fresh fabrics, period woodwork, and exposed beams, all brought into focus by a recent upgrade. Book a superior room to be rewarded with an amazing view of the Pantheon and across the rooftops to Sacre-Coeur, on the other side of Paris.

Moving up the 2019 travelers's list to grab the third spot is the equally charming Hotel Da Vinci, located on Rue des Saints-Pères, just across the river from the Louvre and in the very heart of Left Bank life. It's a great place for walking access to everything you want to see, including Musée d'Orsay, only ten minutes away on foot.
Unusual for a boutique hotel in central Paris, the hotel has an indoor pool. There's also a stunning courtyard patio, but we really like the comfortable rooms and the great service.

Another highly-rated boutique hotel, Hotel d'Aubusson retained its number two spot for 2019. Set on Rue Dauphine, which leads directly to the Seine and Pont Neuf, the hotel give visitors easy access to everything in the 6th Arrondissement and on île de la Cité (a three-minute walk).
Built in the 17th century as a private mansion, Aubusson retains period charm, with oak beams, giant fireplaces, and antique furniture. The rooms are pleasant and comforting and equipped to modern standards. We also love the public areas like the lobby and the bar with its curved zinc counter, not to mention the swimming pool, a rarity in Saint-Germain.

Leapfrogging into the top spot for 2019 was Hotel Baume, the place to go for a modern hotel with a historic design sensibility. A 21st-century makeover gave the Baume an interior design inspired by the 1930s, reflecting the fashion, films, and Art Deco of the period. Harking back to that era, the rooms are filled with textured silk, satins, and exotic woods. In addition to the stunning design, the hotel offers all-modern conveniences, and guests rave about the staff and location.
