Paris Arrondissements –
The 10th, 11th & 12th

Train Stations, the Bastille &
Up-and-Coming Neighborhoods

These three Paris arrondissements, which form an arc on the east side of the central Paris arrondissements, are often a low-priority destination for visitors.

Paris Arrondissements: 1st & 2nd 10th, 11th & 12th Arrondissements:
An Eastern Arc

And that's a shame, because there's a lot to see in these large residential Paris arrondissements.

The 10th hosts Canal Saint-Martin, which connects the waterways northeast of Paris to the Seine. It's an up-and-coming neighborhood: hip, young, trendish. It's also where you'll find three of the major trains stations of Paris and a couple of our favorite restaurants.

The 11th Arrondissement borders on the Marais and on the Père-Lachaise Cemetery, where many famous people are buried. (Where else can you talk about Oscar Wilde, Molière and Jim Morrison in the same breath?)

The 11th & 12th Paris arrondissements share Bastille, with its historical place and modern opera house. The 12th extends east to the Paris city limits and includes Gare de Lyon (for those heading to the south of France), the thriving Bercy neighborhood, and the very famous market street Rue d'Aligre.
